Now that I’ve become a mom, my packing has become more strategic out of necessity. When I used to be able to basically bring my entire closet to be fashionably ready for any change of situation, I now share a suitcase with a small person who often goes through multiple outfits a day for any number of reasons. I always find it funny when going on a trip that I want to buy a whole new wardrobe, even though the people I see on trips wouldn’t know the difference when really classic flattering pieces that can mix and match are the way to go. So here are some tips I consider when packing
Always check the weather. I can’t tell you how many times I haven’t done this diligently and instantly regretted it. There is nothing cute about wearing a athletic zip up hoodie out to dinner with a nice dress because you didn’t bring the appropriate clothing for the temperature.
Chose a couple of neutral bottoms that can be dressed up or down. I chose a vegan leather legging, camo denim, and a nice pencil skirt with a bit of color for night.
Take into consideration how many days you will be gone. We will be gone just over 7 days so I chose 8 tops that can be worn during the day with pants but also dressed up at night with the pencil skirt, booties, and necklace.
Shoe wear is key. While the temperatures are reaching into the 70’s here, we are headed where the highs are barely breaking 30 and there is snow on the ground (so excited) so I am including my Sorel boots and a nice pair of Cole Haan booties. Both classic and versatile.
Lastly, it’s always good to have an easy dress on hand. I chose this black knit mid calf dress that can easily be dressed up and look very elegant, takes minimal room in my suite case, and can also be dressed down if needed.
Check back this week for the looks I style daily with this combination of pieces!
